My wife, Madeline, and I read a section from our Bible each morning with our prayers. As it happens we had just finished off Malachi and begun the Gospel of Matthew with its genealogy (or list of descendants from Abraham to Jesus - see also a similar genealogy from Adam to Jesus in Luke 3.23-38.)
We were intrigued to read this morning of three important women mentioned in the three sets of fourteen descendants in Matthew 1.1-17. It's worth pausing to think how they were important to these early Christian writers.
1. Rahab
2. Ruth
3. Mary
